SDA Speech & Debate Competes at State Competition

Congratulations to all those who competed at the California State Championships!

Getting there was an great honor in itself. This year, the State Speech & Debate Competition was held on Friday 4/15 thru Sun 4/17 at San Diego State University and had 1,500 of the best competitors in the state who qualified to compete at this tournament.

SDA is proud to have sent Desiree Otillio & Joseph Swit, Priya Dave & Derrik Marrow, and Michael Wimsatt & Elliot Horen as our Policy Debate teams, Alex Rosengarten in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and Claire Li in National Extemp Speech.

Claire, Desiree and Joseph made it to elimination rounds in their respective events, placing in the top 64 Speech and Debaters in the California. Michael and Elliot made it all the way to quarterfinals, making them one of the top 8 policy teams in the state!

Michael and Elliot, who will be going on to the Nationals competition in Texas this June.

In general, SDA Debate is pleased to have ended our 2010-2011 season on a high note.
