VINCENT ANTHONY MEYER

RANCHO SANTA FE – Vincent Anthony Meyer, age 89, was a devoted husband and father of 7. He married Lenor Smith in 1945 and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
In 1945, he served in the Air Corps for 2 years. After his service he was awarded his teaching credential from Long Beach State. In 1953 Vince and Lenor moved to Cardiff with their first 4 children, where Vince started teaching in the San Dieguito High School District for 40 years.
After a short stay in Cardiff they moved to Rancho Santa Fe where they resided for 45 years and completed their family of 7 children; Tony, Greg, Steve, John, Jeff, Elizabeth, and Bill.
During his teaching career he went back to get his Masters in Education at USC in 1961. After retirement he enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and Canada with Lenor, in a bus he converted to a motor coach. His recreational interests were camping, fishing, and being physically active. His community activities included serving on the S.D. County Grand Jury, the Del Mar Lions Club, and coaching Little League. He was politically active during the Vietnam War and throughout his lifetime, always engrossed in politics.
Vince and Lenor made many friends near and far and enjoyed a multitude of activities with them. Vince was predeceased by his sons Tony and Steve, he is survived by his wife, Lenor, 5 of his children, their spouses, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Services will be held April 4th at 10:00 a.m Miramar National Cemetery.
