1938: Varsity "S"

"The ‘Varsity S’ began this year with eight members of last year’s Letterman’s Society. Officers were elected at the first meeting.

A date was immediately set aside for the first Letterman’s Interscholastic Sport dance. Both the G.A.C. and Letterman’s Society sponsored the dance to which twelve other schools were invited. The visiting schools participated in the program, Vista High School winning a trophy for their part in the program. The dance was a great success and will be an annual affair.

The next event was the initiation of last year’s Varsity basketball, baseball, and track letter winners. Four candidates went through a trial week, and then were admitted to the society."
