Student Support Services
Overview
The Student Support Service (SSS) council is a collaborative effort of students, counselors, administrators, parents and community members working together to address challenges facing our students and families. The council produces events and promotes resources to reduce risk and improve relationships between students and their families in order to positively impact student success.

Quarterly meetings will be held in the Conference Center in Building B. Subcommittees will meet throughout the year in the Library. All meetings are from 9:15 – 10:30 am. Attendance averages between 8 to 13 members. New business is welcome at each meeting. All are welcome to attend.
Activities
SSS supports the following activities and resources:
Healthy Kids Survey –Statewide survey results on alcohol and substance use, identity, self-esteem and mental health issues is presented by UCSD researchers in the fall (Sept 19).
Parent Forums – Evening parent forums open to the public focusing on current issues. Each fall and spring we support the READI forum on alcohol/substance use issues. The 2011 SSS spring topic called “Tuning Into Your Teens” received high marks from audience evaluations.
Start Smart Driving Class– a free driving safety education class for teen drivers 15 + and their parents/guardians in partnership with SDUHSD, San Diego County Sheriff’s office, county Board of Supervisors, San Dieguito Alliance and others. Students must attend in order to receive a campus parking pass.
Parent Resource Book – a comprehensive parent resource guide available outlining important information about SDA and high school in general. Available in English, Spanish and on-line.
SDAlliance for Drug Free Youth link– The San Dieguito Alliance for Drug Free Youth is an important resource for parents seeking current information about drug and alcohol prevention, social host ordinance, driving and safety issues, parenting tips, teen volunteer programs, etc.
