Get ready for the Winter Concert on Thursday, December 15th. The concert will be held in the gym, and unlike the Fall concert, you will have the opportunity to hear both Wind Ensemble 1 and 2, in a longer holiday program. Students will wear their formal attire. Mr. Wuertz will provide additional information as to call time for our musicians. This is always an exciting concert, and a great way to get ready for the holiday break.
Reminder—many families have not yet participated in the Music Council annual appeal, which funds our artists in residence program (music coaches), instruments, and sheet music. We are currently only at about 50% participation in the annual appeal fundraising program, and we would love for this number to reach 100%. Please consider contributing to the program—any amount counts as participation. Think of the amazing opportunities we could provide for the students if we were at 100% participation! Many families may not be aware that as much as 90% of the music program’s operating budget comes from donations—not from the school—so, the more we collect through donations, the more we can provide the students. Please contact Sheryl Silverstein at email@example.com by Monday, December 12, 5 pm, if you have already donated and have not already informed us that you would like for your donation to be listed as anonymous in the program. We have attached a copy of the information you received at the beginning of the school year.
We will have the traditional concessions stand open before the concert, and directly after. Music parents help set up and run the concessions for the student band council—proceeds from the sales of these drinks and food go to the student band program.

This is a first for our program, and will provide you with many opportunities to sport the SDA band logo. Assistant Treasurer Needed
Please consider joining the Music Council as Assistant Treasurer. It would be great to have someone start shadowing and helping our current amazing Treasurer, Judy Pinpin, with the idea of taking over the Treasurer position next year. We would especially like a current freshman or sophomore parent to help out.
Watch for the next Spring trip letter, which will provide more detail on the upcoming Seattle trip April 7-10, 2017.
Maui Condo Raffle only $25!
Please look for our Music Council Hawaii Raffle volunteers at the Winter Concert. Purchase your raffle ticket, or ticket at the concert, or at any time before the deadline. Several band families have won the raffle in the past, and the last two winners are actually current Wind Ensemble families! Theater Arts Council and Music Council are raffling a seven-night stay ($1400 value) at an oceanfront condominium on Maui between May 1 and October 31, 2017. See VRBO.com/272098 for condo details.
