Laying the Foundation for Success in High School, College & BeyondWhat: San Dieguito Academy Family Forum

Where: San Dieguito High School Academy Media Center, 800 Santa Fe Drive, Encinitas.

A panel of high school, college and business experts will discuss building academic, self-leadership and life skills needed to become resilient, resourceful and responsible young adults.

Dana Smith, Dean, Mira Costa College – Ms. Smith currently serves as the Dean of Letters & Communication Studies, supervising five academic departments. A former faculty at Mira Costa college, Ms. Smith oversees site administration for the San Elijo campus in Cardiff and leads the campus’ focus on transfers.

Michele Alcantara, Director of Human Resources, Scripps Hospital, Encinitas — Ms. Alcantara oversees all HR- related issues, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, organizational development, compliance reporting and policy administration. Ms. Alcantara’s work history includes working with start-up, electronics and banking industries.

Robert MacPhee – author and founder of Heart Set, Inc — Mr. MacPhee provides speaking, coaching and consulting to individuals and businesses. Mr. MacPhee works with organizations to help people sustain and improve productivity through changing business climates.

STUDENTS will offer their perspectives on optimizing the high school and college years.
