With the school year starting up, so do fall sports. SDA will be competing in a new league, the Avocado West, with five other teams including rivals LCC, TP, and CCA.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: After earning the fourth CIF seed in the open division last year, the SDA Girls Volleyball program has four returning seniors, Savannah Casey, Kiani Kerstetter, Kiahna Holman and Ashley Fonte. Also returning is last season’s team and league MVP, junior Sarah Colla.
BOYS WATER POLO: The water polo team also qualified for CIF last year for the first time and has many returning players looking to duplicate last year’s great season.
GIRLS TENNIS: The girls tennis team has the CIF singles champion Jennifer Kerr returning for her senior year along with five solid returners. The girls golf team welcomes back five returning players including Callie Hartzog, Shayna Glazer, Tessa Lee, Delaney Stewart, and Lauren Woodley, all of which are 2nd year members, plus Elisha Chen, a four-year varsity player and CIF qualifier in her sophomore and junior years.
FIELD HOCKEY: Field hockey is seeing huge excitement for the sport in both new and returning players, and last year’s only graduating senior player is coming back to support the coaching staff.
CROSS COUNTRY: This will be a season of discovery and growth for the cross country team as it will be a predominately younger, less experienced squad. It is ready to step up to the challenge of our new league, along with its fellow fall sports teams.
Please come out and support these student athletes.
