Girls’ Volleyball: The girls hosted RBV last night in the first round of CIF playoffs. Unfortunately, they were defeated 3-1. It was a terrific season, and they should be proud to have earned the right to host a CIF playoff game.
Boys’ Water Polo: The boys won their first-round CIF playoff match yesterday against Olympian. No one seems to remember a history of our boys’ water polo team winning a CIF playoff game. This is a season for the records for those boys. They play the #1 seed, San Marcos on Thursday at La Jolla.
Cross Country: The JV athletes ended their season last Friday, and now it’s just varsity headed to league next Saturday at Guajome Park. The fastest seven guys and seven girls will continue on to CIF the following Saturday at Morley Field. We then hope to see some continue on to the state meet on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Girls’ Golf: Elise Chen qualified for the second day of CIF golf at the championships last Monday and Tuesday. This puts her up in the elite class of girls’ golfers in San Diego County. Despite small numbers of participants, this team had a great season as well.
Field Hockey: I’m still waiting to hear for certain, but the girls’ season most likely ended with a lovely senior night against Vista last Thursday. We now have a coach who is committed to sticking around, so I expect the program will grow tremendously in the coming years.
Girls Tennis: Our doubles players have some playoff matches today, as you saw in your early release email earlier today from Megan. Jenn Kerr has a playoff match tomorrow. As the league champion for singles, we are excited to see what she can do at the CIF level.
I probably will not send out another update until after Thanksgiving, as next week marks the start of winter sports try-outs. If you ever have any sports questions, feel free to shoot me an email.
