Girls Soccer Team

Girls Soccer Team

Spring is in the air. Before we change seasons we need to congratulate a winter sport, Girls Soccer. They won the Division 4 CIF title 1-0. They advanced to the state tournament reaching the semi-final game.

Now on to spring; we had two CIF champs from the spring season last year, tennis and boys volleyball.

The tennis team only lost one senior from last year’s team and is hoping to continue its recent success.

The boys volleyball team is just the opposite having lost a lot of players from last year’s championship team. This year’s team had a lot of interest having 26 players come to tryouts. The resulting team is young and energetic.

The softball team is also young with no returning seniors. Its preseason will include the North County, Cougar Classic, and Falcon Fiesta tournaments which will offer strong playing experience for our very competitive league.

SDA moves into the track and field season setting its sights on sending a full team to CIF championships this year, led by a talented group of freshman and sophomores as well as seasoned veterans. The varsity golf team has a lot of developing talent with four new freshmen joining. Overall, we still have a young competitive team with three returning players who qualified for CIF last season. The team goal is to qualify for CIF and finish in the top five for Division 2.

The baseball team will rely on a good pitching staff and strong defense to make this 2017 season successful, and it returns eight lettermen from last season. Boys lacrosse is on the rise with 16 returning players from last year’s squad, while youth will be served on the girls lacrosse team after a great turn out for tryouts.

Come out and enjoy some exciting Mustang sports action this season.
