Age 47, 12/17/1967~02/10/2015
OCEANSIDE — After a courageous fight against prostate cancer, Alex passed away on February 10, 2015, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Barbara and their son, Cameron; mother, Martha Amador; sister, Deborah Amador, and niece, Erica. Alex was preceded in death by his loving father, Raul Amador.
Born in La Jolla, CA. on December 17, 1967, Alex grew up in Encinitas and attended San Dieguito High School. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from San Diego State University. Alex was an accomplished CPA. He was also an avid surfer, Chargers fan, and Padres fan. Alex was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 12 pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Encinitas, followed by internment at Eternal Hills in Oceanside at 3pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 7 in Oceanside. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to “The Alex Amador Foundation for Prostate Cancer Awareness” at any Chase Bank.
Maria A. Day May 29, 1968 – August 18, 2017 Encinitas
Maria Agatha Day, 49, fought cancer for over a year. She was preceded in death by her father Richard; survived by her mother Mary and brother Raymond Day, both of Encinitas, and countless family members. She lived her entire life in Encinitas except for four years spent at Mount St. Mary’s University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business in 1990. She worked for Encinitas Ford for 17 years and enjoyed traveling with her friend Debra. They visited Alaska and Hawaii, and she took the train from San Diego to New York. She had a great love for dogs. A memorial mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, 1001 Encinitas Blvd., Encinitas, CA, on Saturday, September 9th at 1pm.

SAN MARCOS — A resident of San Marcos, California Mari-Jo Porter, 40, passed away after a short, courageous battle with breast cancer.
Mari-Jo was born in Belleville, New Jersey and moved to San Diego in 1979. She graduated from San Dieguito High School in 1986. Mari-Jo’s number one passion was spending time with her family. She enjoyed boating, floating, laughing with friends, cheering for the Chargers, “girls trips” and watching her two girls play softball and soccer.
Mari-Jo is survived by her husband of 15 years, Tom Porter and their two daughters, Samantha (10) and Stephanie (5); her mother, Josephine Immerso-Hale of San Marcos; and her brothers, Patrick and Gregory Immerso, also of San Marcos. Her father Joseph Rocco Immerso precedes her in death. She is further survived by nieces and nephews that will never forget their “Aunt Mar”.
Mari-Jo will forever be remembered as a loyal, faithful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend.
Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Elizabeth Hospice 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025 or The Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation P. O. Box 204, Norwood, N.J., 07648.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 11th at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 1450 S. Melrose Dr., Oceanside, CA 92056. The Holy Rosary will be offered Wednesday, June 10th at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas More.
