Devany, age 67, died at Glenbrook Health Center in Encinitas, California, on Friday, February 4th, 2011. The cause was Non-Hodgkin&#8217;s Lymphoma. He was born in San Diego, California, April 21, 1943, to John and Dorcas Devany.<\/p>\n<p>After graduating from San Deguito [sic] high school in Encinitas, Tom continued to live and work in the San Diego North county for his entire life. An extraordinarily hard worker, Tom was a successful entrepreneur in the automobile industry for over 40 years. His interests included family, friends, extended trips to Mexico and playing golf. In the last years of his life he was often found with his family and friends enjoying a well prepared steak, telling stories of his journey through life, and spending quality time with his grandson.<\/p>\n<p>Tom fought his battle with Cancer along side his beloved wife Karen with dignity and the strength of a true champion. He was a fighter and our hero that never gave up. His bravery and what he instilled in us will be forever loved and missed by all that knew him.<\/p>\n<p>Tom is survived by his wife, Karen, his son Mike, his grandson Thomas, his daughter-in-law Tracy, his brother Mike, and numerous friends who will all miss him dearly.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Moores Cancer Center, 3855 Health Sciences Drive, La Jolla, CA 92093.<\/p>\n<p class=\"AR\"><em>Obituary clipping submitted by John &#8220;Jay&#8221; Helmantoler, Class of 1969. Dion<\/strong><br \/>\nDavid was born on January 6, 1943 and passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. He moved to Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA in 1952. Boydd is remembered by his family and friends as an outstanding athlete, father, grandfather, and friend who loved his beach community. Boydd graduated from San Dieguito High School in 1960, where he was recognized as Athlete of the Year for his participation in varsity football, basketball, and track. He went on to play basketball for Palomar College from 1961-1962 and was honored as Most Valuable Player in the league. Boydd was also very involved in the Encinitas beach volleyball scene and organized volleyball tournaments at Moonlight Beach for several years.<\/p>\n<p>Boydd served the city of San Diego as a police officer from 1968 to 1973. He also worked in the field of corporate security and was a firearms instructor while living in Las Vegas, Nevada. After retiring, Boydd returned to Encinitas. He was the Alumni Chair of San Dieguito High School Academy Alumni for almost two years.<\/p>\n<p>Boydd enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. In his later years, he could often be seen riding his bike up and down the coast of Encinitas. He liked telling stories about his journey through life and always had a smile to give. He was truly one of a kind.<\/p>\n<p>Boydd is survived by his three children; Lynne, Grant, and Britt Galland. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, other relatives and numerous friends who will all miss him dearly.<\/p>\n<p>His memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 3:30pm at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. Martin, III, 35, died Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Born in National City, he attended Encinitas elementary schools and was graduated from San Dieguito High School in 1960 and from San Diego State University in 1969.<\/p>\n<p>He was associated with Scripps&#8217; Institute of Oceanography from 1963 to 1971, when he resigned to make a world tour. In 1973 he settled in Cameroon, Africa, where he was employed by General Telephone and Electronics. Later he went to Kano, Nigeria, and was employed by Teleconsult International.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife, Halfa Martin of Yola, Nigeria; his parents, Hon. John F. He was raised in Encinitas and graduated from San Dieguito High. He attended SDSU where he joined Kappa Sigma Fraternity and made life-long friends.Bob excelled at rugby. His coach, Frank Mattarucci said, &#8220;Prahl is one of the finest American rugby players I have ever seen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At SDSU, he met the love of his life Jan Collins, but he did not ask her for a date for 17 years.<\/p>\n<p>Following college, Bob attended Hastings Law School graduating Order of the Coif in 1969. He returned to San Diego to begin his law practice where he specialized in real estate, corporate, and estate planning. He practiced until shortly before his death.<\/p>\n<p>He was married to Ellen Massey and raised a daughter, Mary. Bob served on the Vestry of thee churches and as Chancellor of two. His favorite outreach was to provide good coffee to the church. He relished time with his grandchildren, family and friends. Born in Bangor, Maine, July 12, 1942, attended Bangor schools and moved to Cardiff, California in 1958, graduated from San Dieguito High School 1960, graduated Whittier College, Whittier, Calif., 1964, Ph D in Psychology from University of Illinois at Champagne Urbana 1968. Was Associate Professor of Psychology at Western Washington State College, Bellingham, Wash., where she taught seven years. Member St. James Presbyterian Church, Bellingham, Wash. She is survived by parents, Henry and Serena (Titcomb) Smiley, Cardiff, Calif., four sisters, Ardith, Venice, Calif., Fay and Julia Ruth, Cardiff, Calif., Priscilla Traggesser of Bellingham, one brother, Lt. Phillip Smiley, USN. She was the niece of Mrs. Ruth T. Currier Brewer, Grandniece of Charles Smiley, Bangor.
