Fairchild (&#8217;61) and his wife Barbara paid a special visit to our campus to meet with our basketball team, coaches, Athletic Director Scott Jordon, some former classmates, Foundation Executive Director Leslie Kulchin Saldana (&#8217;84), Alumni Coordinator Sue Cooper (&#8217;66), and Principal Bjorn Paige! <\/p>\n<p>John gave a great talk about his journey in basketball: from being cut from the ninth grade basketball team to becoming a star at San Dieguito, then his career at Palomar College through his college career at Brigham Young University. <\/p>\n<p>In 1965 he was the #16 draft pick in the 1965 NBA Draft, taken by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round.
