Varsity Head Coach: Doug Gilbert
About Coach: A graduate of USD and Stanford, I am entering my 25th year in the SDUHSD. After seven years at Torrey Pines, I’ve spent the last 18 years at Canyon Crest Academy, where I currently teach Social Science and co-coordinate the SDUHSD Induction Program, mentoring the next generation of educators.
On the Court & Field: I’ve coached Basketball, Volleyball, Track, and Golf throughout my career, most recently serving as the Assistant Beach Volleyball Coach at CCA for the past three years.
Family & Life: I live in the community with my wife, Cat (an Art Teacher), and our three children: London (UCSB), Lila (10th), and Sol (8th) —all proud current or future SDA Mustangs. When I’m not at school, I’m usually surfing, traveling, staying active, or enjoying live music.
JV Head Coach: Ava Chew
About Coach: A graduate of LCC, and SDSU, I am a avid Beach Volleyball player with experience in early childhood education. I am a Junior Olympics 2 time champion, 1st in AAU Nationals and received a AAA rating.
