A lifelong athlete and educator, Dana Upton played collegiate volleyball before dedicating over 20 years to coaching the sport she loves. Now an elementary school teacher in Encinitas, she brings the same passion, energy, and teamwork from the court into her classroom every day. When she\u2019s not teaching or coaching, she treasures time with her husband, two daughters, and their beloved pets. Whether it\u2019s a game of beach volleyball or a family stroll by the ocean, the beach is her favorite place to relax, recharge, and connect with the people she loves most.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption>\n<\/figure>\n

Taylor Hoff, Varsity & Junior Varsity Assistant Coach<\/strong><\/figure>\n

Taylor grew up in Encinitas attending El Camino Creek, Oak Crest, and graduating from San Dieguito Academy HS in 2012. He played practically every sport in his youth and found his love for beach and indoor volleyball at Moonlight when he was 13.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Taylor chose to stay local after high school first going to Mira Costa Community College then transferring to CSU San Marcos. While in college locally Taylor not only found his passion for teaching but also took up the head JV coaching position at SDA when he was 19 in 2013.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Taylor is now the head varsity boys indoor coach, assistant varsity boys beach, and now assistant varsity girls indoor volleyball coach at SDA. He also teaches K-6 PE at Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary. He is very passionate when it comes to sports at his Alma mater not just in volleyball but all athletics at SDA. He coached at Wave for three seasons but lost interest in coaching non SDA players, which goes to show his loyalty to SDA.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

While Taylor is not coaching or teaching you can most certainly see him at Moonlight beach playing volleyball, always old school rules sideout big court. He encourages all of the players he coaches to join and have fun. He also enjoys playing spikeball and soccer with old club teammates, hiking and camping, traveling over the summer, and trying out local breweries in North County.<\/p>\n

Taylor wants everyone to succeed this season and is looking forward to having a great time coaching such talented athletes.<\/p>\n
