DEAN EDWARD WITTY
Feb. 14, 1918 – June 16, 2002Dean Edward Witty, 84, of Hemet died Sunday. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and was a teacher for the San Dieguito Union High School District. Mr. Witty served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post 53 in Hemet and VFW Post 2266 in Hemet.
Survivors include his companion, Dorothy Olson Callahan of California; daughter, Sarah Kilpatrick of Washington state; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. today, El Camino Mortuary, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego.

DEAN EDWARD WITTY, 84, died Sunday at Eugenia’s Sweet Home Care in San Jacinto. Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mr. Witty lived in Hemet eight years. He was a teacher at San Dieguito High School in Encinitas for 18 years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1937 until 1967.
Mr. Witty was a member of American Legion Post 53 and a former state vice commander.
He is survived by a daughter, Sarah Kilpatrick of Washington; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his companion, Dorothy Olsen Callahan of Hemet.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. today at El Camino Memorial Park Mortuary. Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet is handling local arrangements.
