Fumiko Nemoto Hayashi, with SDUHSD from 1988 to 2017

Fumiko Nemoto HayashiENCINITAS Fumiko Nemoto Hayashi, 92, passed away gracefully, surrounded by family, on March 8. She is survived by her four children: Leonard (Denice), Glenn (Amy), Kathy (George Furgerson), and Tim (Beth); five grandsons; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Fumi and her late husband Ted were longtime Encinitas residents, where they grew carnations and worked in the flower industry from 1958 to 1988. Fumi began a second career in 1988 with the San Dieguito Union High School District. At the time of her death, she was a Transportation Aide for children with special needs and was the oldest employee in the school district.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 1:00 pm at the Encinitas Community & Senior Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Dr., Encinitas, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Fumiko Nemoto Hayashi to Friends of Manzanar, PO Box 92214, Long Beach, CA 90809, or at www.friendsofmanzanar.com.
