ENCINITAS Fumiko Nemoto Hayashi, 92, passed away gracefully, surrounded by family, on March 8. She is survived by her four children: Leonard (Denice), Glenn (Amy), Kathy (George Furgerson), and Tim (Beth); five grandsons; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Fumi and her late husband Ted were longtime Encinitas residents, where they grew carnations and worked in the flower industry from 1958 to 1988. Fumi began a second career in 1988 with the San Dieguito Union High School District. At the time of her death, she was a Transportation Aide for children with special needs and was the oldest employee in the school district.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 1:00 pm at the Encinitas Community & Senior Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Dr., Encinitas, CA.
