A gift-in-kind (GIK) is something beyond cash and ranges from computers, weekend cabins, airline miles, good or services for use as auction or raffle prizes. GIK can be donated for immediate benefit, used throughout campus or for special events.
Giving appreciated securities is an easy way to have shares transferred electronically. It can help avoid capital gains, qualify for charitable income tax deductions and be recognized for the full value of the securities on the day the shares leaves an account.
This endowment creates the opportunity for an even more impactful way of giving to SDAF that is also tax-efficient for you. The endowment is a permanent fund in which charitable contributions are invested and the interest from this vehicle provides regular periodic income to support SDAF’s activities.
A gift to the school in memory or honor of an individual helps perpetuate the values of a loved one’s life. Gifts may honor a person during his or her lifetime, or you may honor a loved one who is deceased.
