What a wonderful and exciting day for the Dempsey Family, San Dieguito, our community and the City of Encinitas!
On Friday, Oct. 14th we honored one of our own legends Tom Dempsey, Class of ’64 by inducting him into San Dieguito’s Hall of Fame! We got to meet Tom’s family and share many of our stories about Tom with them.
Also on hand was Tony Kranz, Encinitas Councilman (representing the City of Encinitas) who presented a proclamation to the Dempsey Family declaring Oct 14th, 2016 “Tom Dempsey Day” in the City of Encinitas!
Tom’s family who attended were, his wife Carlene, daughters Ashley and Meghan, son Toby, grandson Dylan, sister Jan and husband, and niece Jessica and fiance.

We had a large crowd!

Bill Sullivan (’64), close friend of Tom’s speaking about his life long friend!

Tom’s friend Charlie Higgins (’64) brought his recorder and with Bill’s help played for us the final 14 seconds of the game where Tom not only won the game in the final 2 seconds of the game but also set a 63 yard field goal record that held up for over 40 years!
