The SDSU University Senate will honor the 2014-2015 Senate Distinguished Professor, Dr. Matt Anderson, at a special event from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Tuesday, April 28 in The Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Theatre.
Dr. Anderson will be giving a lecture entitled: “The Learning Glass Project“. The Learning Glass is a transparent whiteboard lecture capture system developed to allow a professor to face his students while writing on the board — and let them see what he is writing in real time.
Learning Glass has now been adopted by other faculty at SDSU and at other institutions across the country. Dr. Anderson will speak about this new technology and the pilot studies underway to study its effectiveness at engaging students.
Matt Anderson grew up in Encinitas. He attended UCSD as an undergraduate, the University of Oregon for his Ph.D., and the University of Rochester for a postdoc. He joined San Diego State in 2000.
He is married with three children and lives in La Mesa. His research in optics focuses on ultrafast laser physics, and his teaching interests have recently concentrated on the introductory physics courses, which motivated the Learning Glass development.
