Principal Paige is writing a series of blog posts during our 80th Anniverary year about the history of San Dieguito. He’ll be researching our records and interviewing alumni from each decade and writing about what he learns!
In this post, Principal Paige gives a long-deserved nod to Robert Williamson, a teacher and historian who chronicled the start of the SDUHS District: “A History Lesson.”
Typewritten and single spaced, its 133 pages are filled with a historian’s view of the political intrigue and social upheaval of almost a half century of Southern Californian life… Through Williamson’s eyes I watched as a polio scare delayed the start of school in 1948, a group of boys from San Dieguito shanghaied a boat at Disneyland in 1959, and the community dealt with overwhelming fears of Communism in the 1960s.
