2025-2026 Season:

Information Night will be held Monday October 20th at Moneyline Sports HQ

All players and at least 1 parent/guardian must attend. If you have a conflict please email girlsSDAwaterpolo@gmail.com.

The 2025-2026 try-outs for team placement will be the week of November 10th – 14th (6:45 – 9PM) at the Alga Norte pool in Carlsbad. You will access the pool area through the front office.

We expect to have JV and Varsity teams. For novice players, no water polo experience necessary but basic swimming & water treading skills required.

You must have your Athletic Clearance turned in by November 1st to participate in try-outs. Go to http://www.athleticclearance.com

This season our team will play in CIF Division II. We are in the Palomar League, which includes San Marcos, El Camino, Oceanside. Del Norte, Ramona

SDA Girls Water Polo is part of the North County Conference and will be playing Division II in the Avacado League. CIF San Diego Section Girls Water Polo

Athletic Clearance Due November 1st for Winter Sports:

Athletes must complete a sports physical and online clearance confirmation page to SDA Athletic Office to participate in Winter sports.

Gear

Players purchase their Game Day team turbo brand suits at the beginning of the season through Swim West.
Practice water polo suit
Swim caps (one navy, one white) Goalies (red). We will sell SDA caps at beginning of season.
Swim goggles
Size 4 water polo ball, write your name on it!
Game Day Shirt (given when joining the team). New ones can be purchased through the BSN online store. These are also worn in yearbook photo.

Swim West, located at 120 Encinitas Blvd, gives SDA team members a 20% discount on their gear, practice suits, etc.

Athletic Letterman Jackets (optional). Varsity letters are given out at the end of season banquet to the varsity rostered players.

Sweatshirt sleeve lightweight and less expensive option (sample hanging in the SDA athletic office) is from Mack Packaging in San Marcos. 760-752-3500. Forms with Megan in the Athletic Office.

PE Credit Option/ Form Link

Athletic Credit for PE applications will not be accepted until the start of athletic activities. Contracts should be emailed by 12/15/25 to megan.thompson@sduhsd.net.

A student can earn 5 PE credits per season with a maximum of 20 credits earned through participation on a SDA sports team. The option is available to grades 10-12.

Winter Sports Information video: Mandatory Parent-Athlete Presentation

One parent for each athlete is required to complete form. Presentation is attached at end of google form. (5 minute video). If you have already watched video or attended the ’25 Fall Sport information session you do not have to complete another.

Coaches

Ashley Sattar, Varsity Head Coach

Ashley Sattar is originally from El Toro, California. She attended El Toro High School where she played water polo for the Varsity team and served as Captain all four years. She received a scholarship to play NCAA Division I Water Polo at the George Washington University where she proudly played for four years and served as Captain for three. She was named Most Valuable Player on both her high school and college teams and was consistently named to All-Conference teams. When she graduated from GWU, she held the record for most all-time goals scored.

Prior to coaching, Ashley worked in non-profit development, serving as the head of Development for such organizations as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Goodwill. Currently, she also serves as the Boys Junior Varsity Coach at La Costa Canyon High School. She absolutely loves coaching and is looking forward to continuing to share her love of the sport with student athletes.

Ashley lives in Vista with her husband and enjoys travel, scuba diving, music concerts, and cheering on her nephews and niece in all their sports.
