SDA’s Writing Lab Tutor (Artist in Residence) for the 2023 – 2024 school year is Jennifer Luevanos.
A San Diego native, Jennifer earned her English, B.A. in Liberal Arts and Sciences at San Diego State University as well as her single-subject teaching credential. While teaching, she went on to study at Hollins University in their Master’s of Fine Arts in Children’s Book Writing and Illustrating program. Her thesis, an illustrated novel celebrates the evolution of hybrid fiction in children’s media and is a reflection of her relationship with literature as a child.
A lifelong learner, she has a vast range of experience creating and implementing curriculum for all types of coursework beyond English and hopes to utilize her time as a teacher to assist students with their writing.
When not tending to her duties at the Writing Lab, Jennifer enjoys drawing, creating stories and working on illustrative prints in her studio.
