Updated April 19, 2012: We are posting this request from Larry Lugo, the Foundation’s Fundraising Chair.
San Dieguito Friends & Families:
As our Alumni know all so well, a key part of our campus’ legacy has been missing the last two years. Gifted to our community by the Class of 1961, our Bell Tower was the “town hall” for 49 years.
The Bell Tower was where we celebrated victories, milestones, and our graduating seniors paused, reflected, and rang the bell in recognition of their entering a new chapter of their lives. It is time to return this part of our history, and we need your help.
The San Dieguito Academy High School, the San Dieguito Academy Foundation, our alumni, and our students, have worked toward having a new Bell Tower designed. Now, we need your help in bringing the design into reality.
We are reaching out to you for your time, your talent, or your treasure to bring back the Bell Tower. We have the architectural drawings, we have the space, we have the desire, and we even have some of the bricks from the original tower. Now, all we need is you.
If you would like to support bringing back the Bell Tower, please let us know. If you own, or know of a local contractor, who can build the tower, a work of passion, please let us know. It’s your history, it’s your legacy.
Best,
Larry Lugo
We just received word that the Class of 1981 will be the first to qualify for a chair in the new Clayton E. Liggett Theatre by raising $1000 via the Alumni Class Challenge. The Class of 1981 not only raised $1000 to sponsor a chair for their class, they raised an additional $1000 to sponsor a chair to memorialize two recently deceased 1981 Thespians: Bobby Medley and Nonnie Heath.
Not only have the members of 1981 helped keep the memories of their former classmates alive, they’ve also helped fund the new classrooms in the Performing Arts Center and also helped defray costs of rebuilding our bell tower! THANK YOU, CLASS OF 1981!
You can help, too:
- Make a tax-deductible donation in any amount to help sponsor a chair in the new Clayton E. Liggett Theater in honor of your graduating class, OR
- make a tax-deductible $1,000 donation to sponsor a chair in the name of your class, your family, or in memory of a loved one.
(If you’d rather not donate via PayPal, please send your gift to SDAF-Alumni Class Challenge, PO Box 235109, Encinitas, CA 92023-5019.)
The theatre is about to open — don’t let it open without your class represented!
Listed below are current totals donated by alumni toward a class chair. (Some have sponsored chairs in the Clayton E. Liggett Theatre on behalf of their families; such gifts aren’t listed below but still help rebuild our tower).
