General Information about Boys Soccer 2022-23

Boys Soccer is a winter sport, with the season running from mid-November – February/March.

Tryouts are mandatory for interested players, and cuts are made when there are more players than spots. Teams carry up to 28 players, with no guarantee of playing time.

Teams practice 2-3 times a week, and play games 1-2 times a week. Training and games are held during the school week, Mon-Fri, although teams may participate in some tournaments that include weekend play.

Information is shared via email, social media, and TeamSnap. Sign up for our mailing list to receive updates about tryouts and the program.

Kai Haseyama commits to Westminster College

Graduating senior Kai Haseyama will be attending Westminster College to study engineering physics and playing soccer for the Titans. Kai sent a note about his SDA experience that we’ve reproduced here. Congratulations Kai and best of luck in your new endeavors!

“My name’s Kai Haseyama, and I’m a part of the SDA graduating class of 2020. I will be majoring in engineering physics at Westminster College PA, and will also be playing soccer for the school. I played soccer, golf, and baseball for SDA and had the best time of my life playing with these teams.
SDA is a perfect fit for students who want to maintain high academic standards as well as get into a high school sport. The unique SDA schedule helped me get into more classes and electives, finish required classes sooner, and created a cover blanket in case there’s a need to retake a class. The fast pace schedule seems hard to manage sometimes, but in my experiences, it’s done nothing but helped.

For high schoolers who want to continue an athletic career in college, there’s a lot more to the recruiting process than just playing. I began creating highlight videos and recruiting profiles my sophomore year, but it’s never too late to start even if you’re going into your senior year. After creating these, begin sending emails to coaches of the schools you’re interested in. You should be sending them your name, club team, high school, grades, positions, and links to your highlight video, recruiting profile, and upcoming game schedule.

Overall, my experience being a student athlete at SDA has been amazing thanks to all the support over the years. Thank you to coach Mike and Kyle, for helping me through the process, and believing in me. Thank you to all my teachers, Mr. Norris, Mr. Vollstedt, Ms. Ceseña, and Mr. Davidson especially, for putting up with me , and coming out to support me at games. Thank you to Mr. Brown, for helping me through the college process and supporting me throughout the four years. Thank you to Mr. Keillor for coming out to so many games and being one of my biggest supporters. Thank you to all my friends, who came out to every game to cheer on the team. And thank you to my parents, siblings, and grandparents, for supporting me since day 1.
