Players: a reminder that all teams have practice today at their regular time. Once league play begins and the teams have games on Tuesdays and Thursdays, they will not practice on Wednesdays.

SDA Boys Soccer is selling spirit wear. The deadline to submit your order is this Tuesday, December 15. Please give your check and order form to either your team manager or Carol Smith. If you won’t be attending Tuesday’s games against Carlsbad, have your son give the check and order form to the team manager. The team managers will be at Tuesdays games. For a copy of the order form click on the link below. We also have images of the different items that are for sale.

Checks should be made payable to “SDAF.”

Please check your email for several SignUp Genius emails generated by Carol Smith. Carol is organizing the annual SDA alumni game on January 2, 2016 and needs volunteers. Please sign up!

Also, Carol is working with our SDA Boys Soccer Club to run concession stand sales during all home games for JVB, JV, and Varsity. This is a terrific fundraiser for all three teams and we need volunteers to sign up to help sell items as well as provide food items that can be sold.

Parents: A reminder that the mandatory Winter Sports Nights will take place this Tuesday, December 1 at 6:00 p.m. in the SDA Gym. At least one parent for each athlete must attend. Following this, we will have a Boys Soccer team meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Mosaic.

Players: All players are required to attend the mandatory athletes’ meeting on Tuesday after school at 3:30 in the gym.

During the vacation period in December, practice will be held on Monday, December 21, Tuesday, December 22 and Wednesday, December 23. The practice times are as follows:

JVB: 11 am to 12.30 pm

JV: 11.30 to 1 pm

Varsity: 12.00 to 1.30 pm

Athletes are required to meet with the Athletic Director at 3:30 pm, and the parents meeting will take place at 6:00 pm. Every athlete and at least one parent must attend this meeting with the Athletic Director. Following the parent meeting with the Athletic Director, we will have a team meeting at 6:30 in the Mosaic.

As per CIF rules, players can still play with their club team until November 29. Players need to contact their SDA coach directly to let them know if they will miss practice next week due to club commitments.

After November 29, players may not practice or compete in games with their club team. Any player who practices or plays with their club will not be allowed to practice nor play with SDA teams.

All practices will be at the Stadium field. All players must bring their running shoes as well as their soccer shoes to training.

All players must complete the online registration form prior to tryouts. The deadline to complete the online registration form is Friday, November 13. The form is available at: http://sdafoundation.com/boyssoccer/tryouts.

IMPORTANT

A reminder that this Friday, November 6 is the deadline for players to submit their completed athletic package and receive their blue card. All players must have blue card in order to attend tryouts.

The SDA Boys Soccer team was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with the 2014-­15 High School Team Academic Award.

The NSCAA annually recognizes high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their performance on the field.

The SDA Boys soccer team was one of 398 teams (150 boys, 248 girls) nationwide recognized for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2014-­‐15 academic year. Among these programs are 51 schools receiving honors for both their boys’ andgirls’teams.

To qualify for this award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players.

Congratulations to the team on this accomplishment!

All players interested in trying out for the boys soccer team this year must complete and submit their sports packets by November 6. The sports packet is available for download from the SDA Athletics Department website: https://sites.google.com/a/sduhsd.net/sdaathletics/. Completed packets must be submitted to Megan Thompson in the Athletics Office. Players will receive their blue card after they submit their completed sports packet. Players must bring their blue card to the first day of tryouts.

Tryouts for SDA Boys Soccer for the 2015-2016 season will take place from Monday, November 16 to Friday, November 20 from 7 to 9 pm.

Daily sign in and registration will be as follows:

Incoming freshman: at 6.20 pm at the gate of stadium
Returning players: at 6:40 at the gate of stadium

Players will also need to register online and this information will be available in the next few weeks.

An historic season, best of luck to everyone. Although the site will remain live there will be few updates until the late Fall. Thanks again to everyone that volunteered.

It looks like we have a solid chance of making states.  The decision will occur this Sunday. In anticipation of getting in, the boys need to NOT PRACTICE NOR PLAY with their club teams to remain eligible.

There will be practices this week, 7P at SDA to stay sharp.
