Music Council Update (10/12)

Dear Parents and Students,

Fall Concert (October 17)

The first concert of the year is next Wednesday, October 17 at 7pm. The flyer is attached. Please note that this concert is at La Costa Canyon High School Theater! LCC High School,1 Maverick Way, Carlsbad, CA 92009.  Suggested donation for admission is $10 adults / $5 students / $3 students with ASB. SDA Staff and children 12 and under are free. Don’t forget that if you’ve donated to the annual appeal at the Silver Level/Gold Level, you receive 2 complimentary admissions and Platinum/Maestro level receives 4 complimentary admissions as well as advanced reserved seating. Your name will be at the door.

Attire

Hopefully everyone that ordered their attire has received it and is ready to go for Wednesday. If you were interested in one of the loaners, please have your student bring the sizes that were sent home with them to class on Monday and Tuesday and we’ll get those distributed. Sorry for delay with that.

Gift Cards
We’ll be selling $10 gift cards to In & Out and Flippin’ Pizza at the concession area during the Fall Concert. A portion of the sales benefit the SDA Music Program. You eat there anyway, so just buy the cards from us ahead of time!! Great for kids getting a bite to eat with their friends & for gifts, too!!!

See’s Candy Fundraiser
The annual See’s Candy Fundraiser kicks off TODAY! Students will come home with information packets and order forms. The funds raised support ASB Band Council. Orders will be due November 29th.

See’s Candy orders will be ready for pickup on December 10th with earlier pickup is possible. Please contact Fundraising Chair, Vanita Tarangelo at: SDAFUNDMUSIC@gmail.com or 518-573-6552.

Annual Appeal Status

We are currently at 49% of family participation for our annual appeal. Donations to the Music Council are our primary source of funding for music coaches who provide small group instruction in our music classes, and also to purchase instruments, equipment, and sheet music. If you haven’t done so, please turn in the Annual Appeal form by Monday, October 15 if you’d like to opt in before this concert.

If you prefer to spread out your donation throughout the year, there is an option to set up a recurring monthly pledge through Paypal. (http://sdafoundation.com/give/monthly-pledge/ )

Restaurant Night at Noodles (November 7)

4-8pm – 25% of sales benefit the SDA Music Program. Flier is attached. Noodles Fund Raiser 11-7-2018

Note: The December restaurant night is Flippin’ Pizza on December 5th. (50% of sales at or above $750 or 25% if below $750!! 5 pm till 9pm)

Junior / Senior Campout

Each year Juniors and Seniors of the music program are invited to a campout at the beach. This year the retreat is November 10-12. The suggested donation is $20 per camper. Keep watch for more information and permission slips coming home with your student at the beginning of November. Thank you to Kathy Colbath for always coordinating this fun outing!

Just Added! Concert at the Forum (December 9)
An optional student performance has been added to the calendar for Sunday, December 9 from 1-3:30 pm at the Carlsbad Forum, Anthropologie Court.1923 Calle Barcelona, Carlsbad, CA 92009 . ASB Band Council will receive a donation from the Forum for this performance.

Chicago Festival of Gold Trip

Thank you to everyone for turning in their commitment forms. We have 55 student musicians making the April 6-9, 2019 trip to the Windy City! Further details, including a trip itinerary and payment schedule, will be released in the coming weeks.
