WIND ENSEMBLE I

Course Description: Meets VPA/UC/CSU requirements. Recommendation: Instructor approval or audition. This advanced-level, year-long course, is designed to provide the opportunity for instrumental music students to be part of a musical ensemble that rehearses and performs various styles of music throughout the school year. Students enrolled in the class play at an advanced level. Students at this level should be comfortable with reading and recognizing scales, various rhythmic patterns, key signatures, and standard music terminology.  Attendance to scheduled concerts, events, and festivals is crucial.

Auditions for incoming 9th graders are typically held in late May! Ask your current Music Director for information!

Symphonic Band

Course Description: Meets VPA/UC/CSU requirements. Recommendation: play a traditional band instrument for at least 1 year ( beginners welcome!). This intermediate-level, year-long course is designed to allow music students to be part of a musical ensemble that rehearses and performs various styles of music throughout the school year. The primary concepts in this class: major scales, intermediate rhythms, tone quality, terminology, and elements of blend/balance in a traditional musical ensemble. Attendance to scheduled concerts and festivals is crucial. No audition is required for this class.
